BOOM 2026 – CONFIRMED FOR SOUTH AFRICA!

BOOM 2026 Heads to Cape Town for Orthopaedic Oncology Innovation

Following the success of the Birmingham Orthopaedic Oncology Meeting (BOOM) in January 2024, which united top experts from 53 countries, BOOM is set to bring its vibrant and impactful meeting to the scenic surroundings of Cape Town, South Africa. Slated for Monday, January 26, and Tuesday, January 27, 2026, this conference will take place at the Westin Hotel, located near Cape Town’s stunning V&A Waterfront and framed by the iconic Table Mountain.

The 2024 BOOM gathering in Birmingham drew 309 delegates, all focused on a Delphi consensus process to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in orthopaedic oncology. The conference highlighted 21 statements on Chondrosarcoma and 20 on Infection in Oncology Reconstructions, offering a collaborative space for global experts to debate and establish evidence-based consensus. The meeting’s aim was clear: provide real-world, clinically applicable solutions to the daily challenges faced by sarcoma units worldwide in managing Chondrosarcoma and Periprosthetic Joint Infection (PJI) in orthopaedic oncology. Given the mixed guidance in existing literature, BOOM consensus meetings like these serve as critical resources, helping clinicians navigate complex cases with the backing of globally agreed-upon insights.

While consensus statements aren’t designed to fit every unique clinical scenario, they offer valuable perspectives that clinicians can apply in practice, shaping decisions with a foundation in global expertise. For those who wish to explore the outcomes, the meeting results are available for download on the BOOM website, where participants and future attendees can stay connected with the latest advancements in orthopaedic oncology.

BOOM 2026 in Cape Town promises an exciting continuation of this tradition, with its tropical January climate, stunning ocean vistas, and cultural richness serving as an inspiring backdrop for innovation in orthopaedic oncology. The Westin Hotel venue will host new sessions, fostering global collaborations while delivering essential knowledge on orthopaedic oncology challenges and cutting-edge approaches to sarcoma care. The program will also expand networking opportunities for participants eager to collaborate on projects addressing sarcoma and PJI issues beyond the conference.

This conference invites all orthopaedic oncology specialists with an interest in sarcoma to register their interest on the BOOM website, boomconsensus.org, and join a global network dedicated to advancing care in this critical field. BOOM 2026 will undoubtedly raise the bar for orthopaedic oncology, transforming the lives of clinicians and patients alike, while creating an unforgettable experience in one of the world’s most breathtaking locations.
