Accreditation ensures that the educational activity being delivered has met the required educational standards and provides reassurance to participants and delegates that the centre, course or event will provide a high-quality learning experience.

HIT Sessions Return

Building on the overwhelming success of the High Intensity Teaching (HIT) sessions at BASK 2024, we are thrilled to announce their return for BASK 2025! These sessions are designed to deliver an immersive and interactive learning experience, ensuring that attendees get the most out of the event.

Located within the main exhibition hall, two dedicated HIT Zones will provide a dynamic and focused environment for in-depth discussions and demonstrations. Each HIT Zone accommodates around 80 delegates, creating an intimate yet energizing setting for knowledge sharing. To enhance the learning experience, participants will be equipped with ‘silent disco’ headsets, ensuring crystal-clear audio without the distractions of surrounding noise.

Engagement is key to the HIT sessions, and we’ve made sure every voice can be heard. Delegates will have the opportunity to ask questions using handheld microphones during Q&A sessions, or they can submit their questions electronically, allowing for smooth and inclusive discussions.

Don’t miss out on these highly popular sessions—HIT Zones are where learning meets innovation, delivering content in an exciting, highly focused format.

Etienne Cavaignac

I am Professor Cavaignac, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee surgery. I practice at…

…the Toulouse University Hospital in the Clinique Universitaire du Sport, located in the Pierre Paul Riquet Hospital.

In addition to teaching at the Faculty of Medicine (professor since 2020), I participate in courses for professional societies such as SFA, ESSKA, ISAKOS, and SOFCOT.

My clinical practice, with over 1,000 surgeries per year, focuses exclusively on knee surgery. A significant portion of these surgeries involves sports traumatology, particularly anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, with more than 500 ACL reconstructions per year.

My research activities are also centered on the knee. I have contributed to over 200 publications in international journals. I am developing a tailored approach to offer personalized surgery to patients. In degenerative cases, the goal is to better analyze anatomical variability in order to propose prostheses adapted to each patient’s anatomy. In sports traumatology, the aim is to improve the identification of all lesions to offer appropriate treatment.

Since May 2022, I have been the Treasurer of ESSKA (European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery, and Arthroscopy). I am also developing an innovative educational approach with a new type of course: https://www.practicalcourseorthopedics.com.

Amy Garner

Amy is a consultant knee surgeon from the Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit…

with a sub-specialist interest in partial, total and revision knee Arthroplasty. Amy read medicine at the University of Oxford, she has a masters in medical education and went on to complete a PhD at  Imperial College, London. Her research investigates the clinical outcomes and biomechanics of Compartmental Arthroplasty of the knee. Amy has reported a biomechanical advantage of medial and lateral unicompartmental arthroplasty, both in isolation and in combination, compared to posterior-cruciate retaining total knee arthroplasty. Amy’s cadaveric studies demonstrated that partial knee arthroplasty preserves nearer-native anterior posterior stability and extensor mechanism efficiency. In the gait laboratory, Amy has demonstrated that compartmental arthroplasty is associated with nearer-normal vertical ground reaction forces and high levels of patient satisfaction, compared to matched posterior-cruciate retaining total knee arthroplasty and healthy control subjects. To date, Amy has published more than 21 research papers. She has presented on 22 podiums across the world.

Currently, he has two fellows – one each sponsored by Johnson & Johnson and Smith & Nephew, each for a duration of 6 months. The deserving candidates are chosen after a detailed interview process. Dr Tapasvi believes that the quest for true knowledge never ends, which is why he continues to update his knowledge and skills by conducting and attending conferences and continuing medical education programs both in India as well as abroad. His initiative called the Pune Knee Course – an annual educational program since 2011, covering everything in knee arthroscopy, is very well received every year.
