To complement this further he completed a Sports Knee fellowship at the Royal Derby Hospital with Guido Geutjens .

Whilst working as a Consultant at the Royal Derby Hospital he has helped introduce newer techniques in to his field, including personalised computer aided osteotomy, and is currently looking into ground-breaking techniques behind cartilage regeneration.

Mr Geutjens’ extensive knowledge and surgical skills means he is invited to lecture all over the world. Based in Derby, he is the Consulting Orthopaedic Consultant to a number of professional sports teams and has operated on international footballers, commonwealth medalists, Olympic athletes and world champions.

Mr Geutjens has performed over 7,000 arthroscopies and 3000 anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions throughout his career. He also has considerable experience in knee replacements and osteotomy procedures around the knee. His specialist areas of interest include cartilage meniscus tears and transplants and arthritis in the young. Mr Geutjens is also known for his work with the repair of rare and difficult muscle injuries of the leg. Mr Geutjens has both an NHS and a private practice in Derby.

…Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk since September 2003. His main field of interest is knee surgery, in particular the treatment of knee cartilage disorders in patients of any age. His most commonly performed operations are keyhole surgery (arthroscopy), realignment operations (osteotomy) and knee replacement surgery (unicompartmental or partial, total and revision). He participates in a trauma rota dealing with emergency admissions (fractures, dislocations, infections).

He is a member of the Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel (ODEP) and Beyond Compliance committees, national committees responsible for implant ratings and safe introduction of modified or newly developed implants.

He has been invited to join a newly formed Primary Arthroplasty Working Group by the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK), which is tasked to produce best practice guidelines on total and unicompartmental knee replacements.

The peer-reviewed journal The Knee regularly invites him to assess the suitability of scientific papers for publication.

He is also a member of a European expert panel for the Physica ZUK partial knee replacement and have written chapters in consensus documents on the “Ideal patient for a partial knee replacement” and “How to deal with complications following partial knee replacement”.

He performs large numbers of knee replacements, both primary and revision.  In 2010 he was voted as one of the top ten UK knee arthroplasty surgeons. He also does large numbers of knee arthroscopies and ligament reconstructions.

He has served on the Executive of BASK (British Association for Surgery of the Knee) since 2006. He reviews papers for the Knee Journal and serve on the Professional Practice Committee of the British Orthopaedic Association.
He also has a medico-legal practice and, as well as doing medical reports for personal injury claims, he has a significant medical negligence practice.
